I was thinking about…
God Put Me Here For a Reason
By Andy Lee
Picture this: you’re cruising down a winding road on a clear evening, the setting sun illuminating your path. The radio’s playing your favorite tune, and for a moment, everything feels perfect. You can’t help but think, “This is exactly where I’m meant to be.”
But let’s be real, the journey to this point hasn’t been all smooth sailing. Life’s thrown its fair share of potholes, speed bumps, and construction zones your way. You’ve dealt with traffic jams, lousy drivers, and inclement weather. Heck, you’ve even had a few flat tires and breakdowns along the way – both literally and metaphorically.
Yet, here you are, still standing. Sure, your proverbial car might have a few dents and dings, a cracked windshield or two, but you’ve made it through each and every obstacle. And that’s something to be darn proud of.
It’s easy to get caught up in the hardships, to dwell on the times when life seemed unbearable. But the truth is, you’ve survived 100% of your worst days. Let that sink in for a moment. Every single one of your most challenging moments, you’ve come out the other side.
And here’s the kicker: you were never alone. Even in your darkest hours, when you couldn’t feel His presence, God was right there beside you, guiding you through the storm.
Take that time you were running late because you had to turn back home to grab some important paperwork. Frustrating, right? But what if that was God’s way of putting you exactly where you needed to be?
Maybe it was to avoid a terrible accident. Or perhaps it was so you could hold the door open for a woman walking into the post office, a small gesture of kindness that gave her the strength to keep going when she was feeling unloved and alone.
You might not remember her face or what she was wearing, but to her, your simple act of kindness was unforgettable. And who knows how far that ripple of compassion spread?
Perhaps later that day, she spotted an elderly lady struggling to pull out of a parking lot, and remembering your kindness, she let her go in front of her. Unbeknownst to her, that elderly woman had just lost her husband and was feeling overwhelmed on her first solo grocery trip in 25 years. But that small act of generosity gave her the confidence to carry on.
Feeling uplifted by the kindness she’d experienced, the elderly woman later bought cookies from a Girl Scout who came to her door. Her warm smile and generosity left an indelible mark on that little girl, inspiring a lifetime of compassion. Years later, that girl grew up to be a geriatric doctor, and when you fell ill, she was there to help you regain your health.
It’s a beautiful testament to the interconnectedness of our lives and the power of a single act of kindness.
So, trust in the journey. Believe that God has placed you exactly where you’re meant to be, even if the reason isn’t immediately clear. Embrace the challenges and the joys, knowing that each experience is shaping you into the person you’re destined to become.
And when life feels overwhelming, remember that you’re here for a reason. Someday, you might share this wisdom with your grandchild when they’re facing their own struggles, giving them the strength to persevere.
As you pick up that paperwork you had to turn back for, take a deep breath and remind yourself, “God put me here for a reason.” Trust in His plan, and know that every step of your journey is leading you closer to your purpose.
Stay faithful, keep trusting. 🙏✨
